Live the moment. Sometimes we are always busy thinking about the future that we almost forget that there’s life moments to live. Enjoy the little things that make you happy. Appreciate the people around you.

Be in a live event. It may be a concert or a large gathering. Just be in the crowd. In that way you could lose your identity and just feel you.

Care for the environment. You don’t need to be an active member of an environmental group. Start small. You can care for the environment for the most simple way. It can be reducing your usage of plastic products, dine in if you have time to avoid take outs that usually uses styro and plastic packaging. Lessen your usage of tissues and recycle paper, use scratch paper as much as possible. In that way you could save some trees in the forest Save freshwater by using glass when brushing your teeth. If you really don’t need new gadget and you just want to be in the bandwagon think of sticking with your old stuff. In that way you could lessen the demand for metallic products produced by mining. In that way you could save a forest from being dug out. I’m not saying this because i’m part of environmental program or i’m playing to be a hardcore environmental advocate. I just want to remind you that we are all earthlings and we have a responsibility to care for our mother earth. If we’re not gonna act who else would act for us

Travel. There’s a big world to explore and we only have a one lifetime. There are a lot of awesome creation of God for us to see. If money is the problem for your travel dreams. Take time to save money. A lot of people testified..it’s all worth it.

Its never too late. If you have any educational aspirations. You want to learn a new language, play the piano, try ballet, learn culinary or photography. GO! Don’t ever think your old enough to do these stuff. I remember back in 2010 when I was attending Spanish class I had a 63year old classmate. Until now he serves as an inspiration for me.

Reconnect. Try to reconnect with old friends, classmates, relatives. They’re part of your life.

Read a book. It feeds your mind and widen your imagination.

Treat yourself. Savor your hard earned cash. After a tiring work give yourself a treat you deserve it.

Think before you click. Review what you post in Facebook,Twitter, blog and other social network sites. Remember in this wired generation your profile and what you post in your social media accounts is a reflection of who you are.

Save. Spend less than or equal to the money you earn each month.

Inspire. Try to be an inspiration to others. I usually ask myself how can I be an inspiration to others I’m not doing any charitable works or related stuffs. Then I thought,hmm maybe I could start being good in that way people would realize kung yan nga dating masama ngayon mabait na may pag-asa pa tayo in that way I serve as an inspiration.

Move on. If there’s any hard feelings with someone let go of it. If you have been defeated or failed in the past move on don’t live on the memories of your defeat instead turn the situation around focus on your weakness and make it your strength. You need to live life moving forward not back.

Appreciate. Be thankful for what you have and for the people who love you. Don’t take things for granted.

Refrain from saying bad words. It makes you a better person.

And lastly and the most important of all…

JUST DO IT. No random rants. Refrain from the what ifs, buts and maybes. Don’t live in fear of trying and doing. Because the biggest mistake of all is not trying. You just have to do it even with just a single step.

Party with the Born peeps..

We deserve to party hard because we work hard! 2011 has really been a year for celebrations for our show Born to be wild. The show was hailed as ASEAN biodiversity Champion and gained merit from New York Festivals reasons for me to be proud for being part of this show.

Day out with my bestest college friends. We had dinner at Mexicali, stroll around ATC, watched Breaking Dawn. My gahhd.. I really miss our college days.

Ito talaga yung kailangan ng word na FINALLY! Finally, we saw each other again! After a year of planning! Haha. Kasi naman last year pa kami nagplaplano magkita-kita nabulok na nga mga pang exchange gift namin sa isa’t isa. Haha. Anways, meet my thesis mates, a.k.a Backpack prod After a year i’m so proud of what we’ve become. We all landed the job we really want. We’re all in the mainstream media. Cheeeers for that! We thank God for that and we know we deserve it dahil mababait naman kaming mga bata ever since our college days! Haha

In a couple of hours another year is bound to end but before I officially say HELLO to 2012, let me share you the highlights of my 2011.

Looking back at the goals I set for 2011 I’m thankful that almost 90% of my goals were achieved. Yey!

Got more “me” time,family time and time to hangout with friends. Meaning despite of the tremendous work load I still managed to pull out some life in me and i hope to keep that this coming year.

Growing up, when I think of Christmas the first few things that come to my mind is Santa Claus, Christmas presents and the birth of Jesus. Sad but as a kid you can’t blame me nor my parents why I have this idea of Christmas. But as years go by I started to learn the true meaning of Christmas. It’s a cliche to say that Christmas is not all about the gifts that you receive but it’s all about spreading the love and sharing your blessings to the in need. But still we ended up having our Christmas wishlist which is mostly filled up with material things. I’m guilty with this, then I came across a reading from that made me rethink what is really should be the meaning of Christmas.

Teach the Children the Meaning of Christmas

I just finished the household chores for the night and was preparing to go to bed, when I heard a noise in front of the house. I opened the door to the front room and to my surprise, Santa himself stepped out from behind the Christmas tree. He placed his finger over his mouth so I would not cry out.

“What are you doing?” I started to ask. The words choked up in my throat, and I saw he had tears in his eyes. His usual jolly manner was gone. Gone was the eager, boisterous character we all know.

He then answered me with a simple statement.

“TEACH THE CHILDREN”

I was puzzled; what did he mean? He guessed my question, and with one quick movement pulled a miniature toy bag from behind the tree.

As I stood puzzled, Santa said,

“Teach the children! Teach them the old meaning of Christmas. The meaning now-a-days Christmas has forgotten”

Santa then reached in his bag and pulled out a FIR TREE and placed it in front of the fire place.

“Teach the children that the pure green colour of the stately fir tree remains green all year round, representing the everlasting hope of mankind, all the needless point heavenward, making it a symbol of man’s thoughts turning toward heaven.”

He again reached into his bag and pulled out a brilliant STAR.

“Teach the children that the star was the heavenly sign of promises long ago. God promised a Saviour for the world, and the star was the sign of fulfillment of his promise.”

He then reached into his bag and pulled out a CANDLE.

“Teach the children that the candle symbolizes that Christ is the light of the world, and when we see this great light we are reminded of Jesus who fills our lives with light.”

Once again he reached into his bag and removed a WREATH and placed it on the tree.

“Teach the children that the wreath symbolizes the real nature of love. Real love never ceases, like God’s love which has no beginning or end.”

He then pulled from his bag an ornament of HIMSELF.

“Teach the children that I, Santa Claus symbolizes the generosity and kindness we feel during the month of December.”

He then brought out a HOLLY LEAF

“Teach the children that the holly plant represents immortality. It represents the crown of thorns worn by our Saviour. The red holly represents the blodd shed by Him”

Next he pulled from his bag a GIFT and said,

“Teach the children that God so loved the world that HE gave us HIS only SON..We thank God for his very special gift.”

“Teach the children that the wise men bowed before the Holy Baby and gave HIM gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. We should always give gifts in the same spirit of the wise men.”

Santa then reached in his bag and pulled out a SUGAR CANE and hung it on the tree.

“Teach the children that the sugar cane represents the shepherd’s crook. The crook on the staff helps to bring back lost sheep to the flock.”

He reached in again and pulled out an ANGEL.

“Teach the children that it was the angels that announced the glorious news of the Saviour’s birth. The angels sang “Glory to God in the highest, on earth peace and good will toward men.”

Suddenly, I heard a soft tinkling sound, and from his bag he pulled out a BELL.

“Teach the children that as the lost sheep are found by the sound of the bell, it should ring to guide us to God. It reminds us that we are all precious in the eyes of God.”

Santa looked back and was pleased. I saw the twinkle in his eyes as he said:

“Remember, teach the children the true meaning of Christmas and do not put me in the center, for I am but an humble servant of the One that is, and I bow down to worship HIM, our LORD, our GOD.”

I will always be a fan of Sundays spent at home. Lounging around the house. Movie marathon. Sitting in the couch watching TV with matching snacks. Playing with the kids. Reading books. Oh how I love you Sunday! How I wish this day will never end

Finally, travelling alone in a foreign country was slashed off my bucket list! It was my first time to travel abroad ALONE and I must say it’s a milestone step for me. It was really another I-will-never-forget-that-experience trip. I mean I may get back to Singapore in the future but it will never be the same as the first time.

I booked my ticket for my SG trip  back in July. I’m not certain if I’ll be free from my work load for those days but I have to be free because it’s a now or never situation. And at top of that I have to think of the money that I’ll be wasting if I’ll abort my trip. Haha A week before my trip I was anxious if I’ll pursue this vacation because of the tasks and responsibilities I have to attend in the office. It was the hell month for us in the production since the airing date of our documentary was moved in the 20^th of the month and we have to prepare for the Anniversary episode and photo exhibit of Born.

I left GMA five hours before my flight. Ako na talaga workaholic! At the very last minute nagtratrabaho pa rin. Haha

Let me share you my funny moment. In the Immigration..

Immigration Officer: (while looking at my ID and other documents) Ito ba talaga ang Media ID sa GMA? Kasi yung iba namang nakikita ko hindi naman ganito.
Dianne: Ganyan po talaga yung ID namin.
Immigration Officer: (looks at me suspiciously) sino itong nakapirma na admin niyo sa likod ng ID mo?
Dianne: Admin po namin. Ganyan po talaga ID namin.
IO: hmmm. May iba ka pa bang ID? Patingin nga.. nagtratrabaho ka nab a talaga?
Dianne: *I gave my Alumni card* Ito po alumni card ko.
IO: Ok so taga La Salle ka anong course mo dun?
Dianne: Communication. I graduated in 2010.
IO: Ok. Sige na nga kasi kapag mga batang tulad mo tapos babae hinihigpitan naming sa immigration kasi uso human trafficking ngaun. Mukha ka pa namang bata iniisip naming kapag ganyan Human traffic.
Dianne: ah ok. Sige po tatakan niyo na ko. Ok.
IO: Ok.
Dianne: Straight face

Anyways so here’s what happened in my trip

Day 1

Airport

Changi International Airport

I flew via Cebu pac the airport is in Changi International Budget airport it’s different from Changi International airport that hosts other International Air carriers including Philippine Airlines and cathay Pacific. If you’ll be staying in the city proper the most convenient and cheapest way to travel is via MRT from Changi Airport terminal. To get to the Changi airport terminal from Changi International Budget airport you have to take the shuttle bus beside McDonalds it operates 24/7 and it’s free.

Ironically I got knocked out by fours cups of coffee. lol.

I arrived in SG at 1:00 am. One of my bestfriends since grade school, Em (now based in SG for work) fetched me. Taxi from the airport to the city proper would cost around S$35-$50 and only $3 when you take the MRT and since I’m travelling on a budget I prefer to ride the MRT instead. We lounged and sipped some coffee while waiting for the MRT – The MRT operation starts at 5:00am. What’s unique about SG’s Starbucks is their stirrer! They got this cool Merlion stirrer…

Inisip ko sana may ganito din sa Starbucks sa Pinas kaso ano naman kaya ilalagay? Rizal Monument? Ulo ni Rizal? Tarsier? haha ) sige nevermind na nga lang. Baka si Manny Pacquiao pa maisipan nila

I stayed in Woodlands. It’s about an hour away from the airport via MRT. We arrived in Woodlands around 7am and it’s still dark like 5am in PH. Slept the whole morning and started our gala in the afternoon.

Mall galore

I think most Singaporeans are mall rat. The reason why every MRT station has a mall. FYI there are about more or less 57 malls in Singapore (source: Singapore shopping mall directory mallsg.com).

Went to Raffles Mall, Suntec City mall where there is an anime convention on going. Cosplay galore! Went to the Gadget fair. It’s the flea market version of gadgets on sale and everyone is going crazy on the gadgets and appliances on the fair. Aside from the gadgets there are also foods.

Once in a while during my teenage life (aww I feel so old tuloy) I always wanted to do cosplay. I remember back in college we have our org in La Salle for anime and cosplay lovers the “Genshiken”. I’m so close to be part of that org when I was a frosh in college but fail to do so because masyado akong focused sa acads. haha. I’m a fan of manga too. I’m one of those manga addicts who cried the day “OneManga” was shut down. Boo!  I’m addicted to Death Note and I wish “L” was a real person and I somehow like to be Misa in some point of my life which I hope I don’t remember now. haha. I really admire these cosplayers for putting on such effort on their costumes and make-ups to portray their anime character.

The first day was really tiring day for my feet and my wallet too. haha. Can’t resist to buy stuffs I see in the mall. Went home by 1 am. Rode the MRT and the Bus.

Day 2

As usual we woke up late. Woke up around 12 noon then we meet up with Em’s friend to pick up our discounted tickets for USS. Got the Day pass half of it’s price! Yay! The benefits of having good friends

We commuted from Woodlands to USS. So this is how to get o Universal Studios Singapore via MRT.

- Ride the MRT and find the connecting train that will lead you straight to Harbour View Station.
- Then from Harbour View there are two ways to get to USS. First, is via Bus, the bus station is on the ground floor of Vivo Mall. Look for the code of the bus in the bus stop near Vivo Mall that will take you straight to Universal Studios. Second, is via Monorail, from Vivo mall monorail station USS is just a two stations away from Vivo City.

Any trip wouldn’t be complete without exploring the place by yourself and be completely lost! Yes! Another thing was slashed off my bucket list! GETTING LOST IN A FOREIGN CITY. checked! Though I never really intended to get lost.

Since Em is at work the whole day I roamed around SG with just myself, a “getting-around-Singapore-map”, some necessities in my bag and a phone na hindi naka roaming! yun talaga yung challenge! hindi ako nakaroaming so I don’t have any source of communication if I get lost around. And I’m not afraid to get lost naman hello Researcher kaya ako I can use my skills in my job kaya laking sampal naman sa muka ko kung hindi ako makasurvive sa SG since it’s land area is only 778km2 just about one-eight size of the Philippines.

My first stop: Asian Civilization Museum

I love history and art when I visit a museum the inner history geek in me is relieved. So whenever I have a trip I always put the museum visit in my itinerary. The Asian Civilisation Museum is a great place to visit to feed your mind. Here you can trace the Pan-asia Civilization and culture. There’s a $8 dollars entrance fee but it’s really worth it.

The famous half fish half lion icon of Singapore – The Merlion. There are five authorized Merlion statues in Singapore, the most well-known is this one found at the Merlion Park, adjacent to One Fullerton at the Marina Bay waterfront.

If you want a full Arab atmosphere the Little India which is one of the most genuine district of SG is the right place. A lot of Arab merchant surrounds the place. It’s a very colorful and cheerful place as you can here the worshipers in the temples.

Chinatown

Chinatown is the most distinct district in SG since Chinese is the largest ethnic group and the first immigrant in Singapore. In this place you could also find cheap items from clothing, accessories, foods and gadgets! Just a tip don’t forget to haggle when buying they might slash off 50 percent of the price.

The bed is so inviting. spent the whole Monday at home, in my room to be exact.

Saturdate with HS friends. Cosplay Mania Event and No Other Woman movie date with Nay Iris.

Supposed to be it’s my first day of class in Benilde for my Digital Imaging and Design short course but our facilitator texted me the night before that our teacher can’t make it to class that day because of some emergency. Lucky Me. I could spend some gala time with my friends since my bestfriend Maan is still in Manila. It was a rainy. No. Not just rainy but a stormy day. Literally the wind can blew us away but we still carry on with our gala. The original plan was to have a food trip in Binondo and walk through the streets of downtown Manila but due to the bad weather. (Thank you so much! napakaganda talaga ng timing mo! hmf! ) We ended up mall hopping. From Trinoma to MOA. Another fail part the MRT was down that day due to some technical problem so we took the bus from Trinoma to MOA which took us an hour to get there. Since wala na naman direction yung lakad namin. We ended up going to the Cosplay Mania Event.

It was an awkward feeling na kami lang ang mukhang normal sa event. Everyone is in their awesome costumes. When we went to the comfort room all the people inside are busy retouching their make up and fixing their costumes. Lahat in character pa.

After the event Nay Iris and I decided to watch No other woman. Curious lang kami sa movie. Almost all the people who watched the movie magjowa. sorry na out of place kami for a moment ni Nay Iris dun. haha.

No other Woman (2011)

It’s a good movie. Timely is must say. haha. Sa dami ba naman kasi ng naririnig ko na “kabitan”-story-in-real-life timely talaga ang movie na ‘to. Plus they put the hottest stars these days Derek Ramsey, Anne Curtis and Cristine Reyes. Big stars+interesting story line+ quotable lines = box office movie.

I must say maganda yung movie it’s not bad after all though it’s very formulaic: may inaapi, nangaapi, gaganti yung inaapi then Happy Ending, the strong line’s between the three characters are very powerful and talagang malakas ang recall sa mga nakapanood. Parang advertising lang we’ll napasingit pa nga yung San Mig Blue ni Anne and the Magnolia fruit drink.  I’m happy with the development of Characters of the three leads but nasayangan ako sa character ni Carmi Martin very promising pa naman sana yung character niya but on the latter natabunan na nung 3 lead then tuluyan ng nawala. I think there’s something lacking in the resolution of the story.

The day after was Peklat’s exam at Benilde accompanied her but failed to attend the orientation since I’ve got something to do back in GMA. Ever supportive ang mga parents ng mga upcoming freshmen. I heard some parents pa talking about their children. What’s the course of their child, anong hobbies and interest ng mga anak nila. naku kulang na lang ata favorite color, food, movie etc. ng mga anak nila pagkwentuhan din nila. Naisip ko tuloy ganito kaya yung nanay ko dati nung hinihintay niya ko kapag nageexam ako for college?.

We’re on the Bronze section and being small is very painful in this kind of event. I’m just watching through the LCD kasi ang tatangkad ng mga nasa unahan ko! hmf! -.- but still I enjoyed the concert. Fergie is really awesome!

One weekend at home. I let my twin cousins Ayen and Jana watch “Let Me In”. Kapag nasa bahay ako lagi kaming nanonood ng movies in my room since napanood na namin lahat ng cartoons and comedy movie sa laptop ko. I decided to let them watch a horror movie though ayaw nila kasi nakakatakot. Nanood pa rin sila and sobrang natatawa ko sa reaction nila while watching the movie. Haha ang cute:)

Westlife Gravity Tour Concert in Manila. September 29,2011

Westlife FOREEEEEVERRR!

Westlife concert + bestfriends since grade school = NOSTALGIA. We never run out of stories on how crazy are we with Shane, Nicky, Mark, Kian and Brian(though he’s not part of the band anymore) back in grade school. Our Westlife fever started out when we we’re in grade 5. We used to have our secret room or what we call “hide out” in our school where the five of us Libay, Maan, Lian, Rubelyn and me used to make tambay after class. We have our password before you can enter the room and the password is “Westlife”!. In our secret room our favorite topic is no other than Westlife! their songs(na paulit-ulit namin kinakanta at minememorize), updates in their lives (sinong may girlfriend na and saan next concert nila), and pakitaan ng mga songhits na nandun ang Westlife! We used to save money from our daily baon to buy the album of Westlife in cassette tape pa! GRABE ganun kalala pagka super fan namin! HAHA!

And it doesn’t end there. I remember we cried and grieved when there’s a news that Westlife’s plane crashed when they’re on their way to another country for a concert and lahat daw sila patay! We thought it was also the end of our lives. Then we found out it was a hoax, grabe yung relief na naramdaman namin as if feeling namin we we’re saved from death. HAHA ang drama namin!  I also remember din I have a Westlife doll pa and I used to bring it in school. Imbes na si Ken ang kapartner ng Barbie ko si Shane Filan! I spent most of my savings to buy song hits to add in my collection. Lahat ng song hits na may Westlife picture and article binibili ko! Grabe natatawa na lang talaga ako kapag naalala ko na ganun ako ka fan!

Overnight just like grade school days

After the concert we decided to spend the night at Libay’s place and just like what we’re doing when we we’re in grade school. Nagtakutan lang kami with matching may pa horror effect pa sa mga pictures. haha. It’s our bonding session playing around like we we’re grade schoolers na magugulo ang buhok at nagtatago pa sa mga sundo para hindi makauwi agad after class.
